Classes & Workshops
We offer pottery classes year-round for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced. The studio also hosts Open Studio (for members and potters with experience), workshops, artist demos, and serves as a classroom for University of North Georgia students and a Summer camp space for kids.

Studio Access & Fees
If you’re new to pottery, please sign up for a course with us (or elsewhere) before participating in Open Studio. You must also be a member to participate in Open Studio at OCAF.
*Please Note: Starting Nov 1, we will have increased studio fees and will no longer accept cash or check, cards only. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we make these adjustments.
[Starting Nov 1] Unlimited Open Studio Access: $75/month. Perfect for regular potters to enjoy unlimited studio time during open hours. You must be a member and have experience to participate.
Single Open Studio Session – $5 [$8 starting Nov 1]. Ideal for occasional use—drop in and create!
Firing-Only Drop-Off – $5 [$8 starting Nov 1]. For those who only need kiln access. Quick and easy.
Clay Purchase – $35. All clay must be purchased through OCAF to ensure compatibility with our kilns. (Available during open studio hours)

Our welcoming team of volunteer potters and staff is available to help, answer questions, and keep the space running smoothly.

Upcoming Classes
Ceramics: Beginning Pottery On the Wheel with Charley Blair
Date: Oct 17-Nov 21, Fridays | Time: 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Fee: $200 Members, $250 Non-members | Location: School Street Studios Pottery Studio
This class will cover the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel. We will learn the entire process through to a finished piece, including wedging, trimming, and glazing. You will get messy in this class, so please dress accordingly.
Pottery on the Wheel: Alternative Forms with Rebecca Seidl
Date: Oct 28-Nov 18, Tuesdays | Time: 5:30pm-8:30pm
Fee: $150 Members, $190 Non-members | Location: School Street Studios Pottery Studio
This class is for students who already have a basic understanding of throwing on the potter's wheel. We will cover a few more advanced forms and techniques, including covered jars, closed forms, and chip & dip bowls.
Instrument Building: Ceramic Rattles with William Rodriguez
Date: Sun Nov 9 | Time: 12pm-4pm | Ages: 10+ | Level: All
Fee: $165 Members, $200 Non-members | Location: School Street Studios Pottery Studio
Ceramic rattle making workshop. This course will delve into basic ceramic instrument making and introduce attendees to the history and cultural aspects of rattles around the world. Learn the process of making a ceramic rattle, and primitive/basic decorative techniques used traditionally. Ages 10+
