About the Founders Artist Residency

Inspired by OCAF’s 5 founders and their deep commitment to the arts, the Founders Artist Residency provides a practicing artist with four weeks of shared studio space and a $1,000 stipend. Depending on their areas of expertise, and professional ambitions, Artists may be invited to weigh in on infrastructure projects or other programmatic areas within the organization. Artists will have an opportunity to exhibit work at OCAF, and offer an artist talk and free workshop to our members. Applications will open each January. Residents will be selected by OCAF staff, patron members, and our exhibitions committee.

About the Artist

Ethan Snow is an interdisciplinary artist from San Diego, California. He received his BA in Studio Arts from San Diego State University and his MFA in Studio Arts from the University of Georgia, Athens. You can find him in his studio most of the time. When not in the studio he is either ruminating, sleeping, or walking the local train tracks.

My artistic practice examines emerging spiritual paradigms, focusing on how intangible beliefs become enshrined in the tangible artifacts we elevate. Drawing inspiration from medieval Western art—its gold-ground paintings, ornate reliquaries, and elaborate stained glass—I seek to evoke the divine sensibility of that era while reimagining it through a contemporary lens.” — Ethan Snow
