The Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF)  is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity that is not supported by tax dollars of any kind. All of our programs are open to the public regardless of what county they live in. OCAF members receive valuable discounts on classes, workshops and special events. Although membership is suggested it is not required.

The Southworks Juried Art Exhibition is a national juried art exhibition that OCAF has been holding for years. Since its inception, it has been one of the premier art exhibitions in the region as it brings in several hundred applications from talented artists across the nation. This year's Juror,Will South (Chief Curator for the Columbia Museum of Art in Columbia, South Carolina,  Chief Curator at the Dayton Art Institute, Dayton Ohio) will choose the exhibit works from the over 425 pieces of art submitted this year.

JAN PERKINS: Art, Innovation & Technology
Exhibition Dates: April 10 – May 8, 2015

Jan Perkins, an internationally known artist and designer, combines innovative techniques with her formal art training in traditional mediums to create a vibrant and unique collection of animal portraiture. Her digital fine art and mixed media resin painting are featured in this year's Southworks Director's Choice Exhibit. Art Camp Registration Now Open!

This camp is designed and intended for children who have a keen interest in art and want to learn more about how to be creative. Emphasis will be for your child to learn different techniques and create one of a kind works of art that they will be proud to share and display. Camps consist of one clay and one painting and drawing week per session for the age group 5-12.

Teen Summer Workshops

Relate and Create is designed to offer teens, AGES 12 TO 18, who want to extend their art education beyond the classroom the opportunity to explore different media while studying under accomplished artists in each medium. Each of the one week sessions will focus on a different aspect of the visual arts - drawing, painting, and pottery.

Master portrait painter Jane Angelhart will share with students a rare opportunity to learn professional secrets for letting colors and faces bloom from the page. Jane’s techniques for painting multiple luminous layers without dissolving previous layers or muddying the color will enhance your work no matter what your subject matter. If you've been afraid to really put the vibrancy of watercolors to the test in the portrait genre, this is the workshop for you.

Combining melted wax with watercolors, Watercolor Batik uses hot wax as a resist to preserve painting layers. Working from light to dark, with this process you are sure to create an exciting piece of art.

Surface Design and Enhancement

If you have ever wondered if you would enjoy the art of pottery, this is the class for you! This six-week intensive course for beginners will cover pottery basics and introduce you to the joy of throwing pottery on the wheel. Cups, bowls, saucers, and other utilitarian forms will be covered. Come prepared to get dirty and have fun!
