Rosemary is an accomplished educator, project manager, consultant, and food stylist who retired from the UGA Cooperative Extension Service in 2005. She holds a BSHE in Home Economics and an MA in Adult Education. She worked as a UGA Extension Agent in Griffin and Atlanta, as well as an educator on the Athens campus. During her varied career, she developed a nutrition education program for low-income Georgians, provided consumer and in-service training, presented cooking shows, and consulted with corporations. Rosemary's community activities include the Oconee County Library Friends, a group that she organized in 1995, the Athens YWCO, the UGA Performing Art Center, and the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. At OCAF, Rosemary can be seen taking classes in the pottery studio, dashing out of our kitchen carrying food laden trays and often writing grant proposals. In addition to gracing many of our events with her wonderful culinary and catering skills, Rosemary was part of the team that produced the DVD, "The OCAF Story, 1994-2014." She lives in Oconee County with her husband, Frank Stancil Jr. They have two children, who came through the Oconee County school system, as well as three grandchildren who are just now entering our schools.
V. Yvonne Studevan hails from Yeadon, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Cheyney State University where she recieved her Bachelor's of Art in Education and of Georgia State University where she received her Master's of Education. As a retired educator, she spends her time traveling, painting and serving on various community Boards. She also spends time researching family history and the legacy of her ancestor, the Rt. Rev. Richard Allen, founder and first bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Yvonne resides in Athens, Georgia with her husband, Dr. Russell Studevan.
Art is a legacy and has always been a part of her life. Yvonne believes it is spiritual and comes from the soul of the artist.
As a young child she began to develop her artistic talents by attending Saturday art classes at Fleishers Art School in Philadelphia, by participating in local art contests, and by receiving instruction at school, from family members, and local area artists. As an adult she continued to pursue and fulfill her need to create art by attending classes and workshops in Hawaii and Japan, at the University of Georgia Continuing Education Program, The Lyndon House Art Center, and the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation. In 2013, Abner Cope became her mentor teaching her the techniques of portrait painting. By becoming actively involved in the art community her skills and knowledge of art have continued to develop.
People and nature inspire her. When she looks at people and nature, she thinks, “Behold the beauty of the Lord”. Her artwork depicts scenes from nature and people going about their daily living.
Expressing herself through art in all aspects of her life, from decorating her home, her yard, her classroom, to dressing, cooking, and making jewelry is something she simply loves. Her artistic creations are inspired by her surroundings, travels, events in her life, and people.
For Yvonne, art is timeless, good for the soul, and continues to give enjoyment.
